Howcast Featured On Nightline!

If you happened to been watching Nightline on ABC last night, you might have caught a short segment on Howcast! It’s tough to condense our story down to 4 minutes — Nightline came close, except for leaving out much-deserved props for our stellar co-founder and VP of Product Development, Sanjay Raman. On the opposite side of the spectrum, we’re happy to say some of our favorite directors, EFP legend, Michael Sanchez, and one half of the handsome Seaworthy Films duo, Nick Carbonaro got some fantastic coverage. Check out the spot below if you didn’t get to see it!

And how do our filmmakers feel about being on Nightline? Howcast Emerging Filmmaker, Michael Sanchez , wrote this about his burgeoning fame:

This morning I woke up to the pleasure of many messages in my inbox telling me I’d been featured on ABC’s Nightline last night. What?!? I didn’t remember ever being contacted by Nightline but one click later I was watching one of my videos in a segment about Howcast.com!

I’ve had a number of awesome opportunities through my work with Howcast. Last year I was interviewed by the New York Times about my participation in Howcast’s Emerging Filmmakers Program, and I recently had the luck of speaking to future filmmakers at Flashpoint Academy, a media arts school here in Chicago, about getting involved with Howcast for hands-on filmmaking experience.

It’s crazy to imagine that two years ago I was just looking for challenging video work when I answered an ad Howcast had posted for emerging filmmakers. Who would have thought more than 80 videos and over 1 million views later I’d be watching myself on ABC? Looks like I’ll have to get used to this…

Michael has produced 82 videos for Howcast and two years later, is still one of our most active filmmakers! How To Kiss with Passion, his most popular video, featured in the ABC segment, even stars Michael! As a musician, he’s also contributed many tracks to the Howcast library. Check out his Howcast channel and web site to see more of his fantastic work!

NYT Covers Howcast in Sunday Business Section

Howcast was featured in the Sunday Business section of the New York Times. We’re all super excited by the piece - check it out! How To Start A Company.

A photographer from the New York Times had the hardest job of the week, photographing “How to Choose the Right Sunscreen Lotion,” in Los Angeles.

Look how we’ve grown!  The chart in the article shows how many views Howcast videos get per month. Pretty awesome!

Howcast #3 on TubeMogul’s Top 40

Making it on someone’s “top (insert appropriate noun of choice)” list is always an honor, and it’s an even bigger accomplishment when you make it to the top 5.

Well, that is exactly what happened to us here at Howcast earlier yesterday when we got word that we finished 3rd on TubeMogul’s Top 40 list of most-viewed video contributors.  Congrats to everyone else on the list and everyone in the Howcast Community who’ve helped us since launching in February.

Here’s what TIME had to say…

There’s a reason no one ever reads the instruction manual. Ho. Hum. That’s why the video how-to site Howcast is such a gem. It breaks from its more staid counterparts, […] by injecting a necessary dose of humor. Come here to learn “how to make a move on a girl while watching a movie on a couch” and “how to become a saint.” Each video is rated — often by thousands of members — so you won’t waste bandwidth on the boring ones. — Anita Hamilton, TIME Magazine

Thanks Anita and thanks to all of your who’ve embraced Howcast over the past few months. We really appreciate all of your support.
